CSTA+

Certified Security Testing Associate+

The CSTA+ qualification is awarded to candidates who have previously achieved their CSTA certificate and further this by successfully completing two university-assessed written assignments.

Written assignments are set (in conjunction with 7Safe) & marked by University professors, and are based on the content of the CSTA Ethical Hacking: Hands-On course. Candidates will have two months in which to complete the written element. The pass mark for this assignment is 40%, with marks between 50 and 69% attracting a merit grade and marks 70%+ achieving distinction. Completing the CSTA+ qualification will earn candidates 15 Masters-level credits which can be put towards one of two university qualification, either an MSc in Computer Security & Forensics or a PgC in Penetration Testing and Information Security.

CSTA+ Certification

The CSTA+ certification is a prerequisite for the Certified Security Testing Professional (CSTP) + certification, the latter of which is gained following successful completion of training and a practical assignment in the field of penetration testing.

Prerequisites

An understanding of TCP/IP and a background in Microsoft Windows and/or UNIX is desirable.
