Energy And Utilities

Oil and natural gas companies have been the target of persistent and targeted spear-phishing campaigns. They are often also the target of ideologically motivated hacktivists in response to what they perceive as the controversial activities of companies in this sector.

Surveys have found that critical infrastructures are commonly targeted by cyber-attacks that are aimed at manipulating or destroying equipment rather than stealing data. The energy and utilities sector has already faced a wide variety of highly sophisticated cyber-attacks, including Nightdragon, Stuxnet and Shamoon.

The security risks faced by companies in this sector will only increase as the sector deploys new and more powerful technology through initiatives such as smart metering, smart grids and digital oilfields.

As part of PA Consulting Group, we are also able to combine our technical cyber security expertise with deep industry knowledge and skills in management consulting, technology and innovation. To find out more about what PA has to offer in the Energy and Utilities sector, click here.
